Uttarkahi (Uttarakhand) [India], July 7 (ANI): A bridge at Ojri on the national highway leading to Yamunotri in Uttarakhand Uttarkahi ditrict wa wahed away due to heavy rainfall in the region on Monday, official aid.
The incident, which occurred on Monday morning, ha dirupted road connectivity to Yamunotri, Uttarkahi Police aid, adding that retoration work i underway.
Meanwhile, heavy rain lahed part of Rudraprayag ditrict on Monday morning.
Earlier, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) had iued an alert on Sunday for heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand for the next four day. Heavy rainfall i expected in ditrict including Uttarkahi, Tehri, Bagehwar, Dehradun, and Rudraprayag.
Heavy rainfall in Rudraprayag and adjacent area of Uttarakhand ha increaed the water flow in the Alaknanda River. However, even after the heavy rainfall and increaed water flow, the river i till flowing below the danger mark.
Uttarakhand Chief Miniter Puhkar Singh Dhami conducted an aerial urvey of the diater-affected Silai Band and Ojri Band tretche along the Yamunotri road in Uttarkahi ditrict on Sunday. The recent heavy rain had caued ection of the national highway to be wahed away, dirupting connectivity to the pilgrimage ite.
Lat week, the Yamunotri National Highway wa blocked at two point between Silai Band and Ojri, everely affecting local travel and pilgrimage traffic. According to Uttarkahi Police, The Yamunotri National Highway i blocked at two place between Silai Band and Ojri due to ome part of the highway being wahed out. It may take time to retore the route.
Rudraprayag Police alo hared the rain warning on X, tating, The Geological Survey Department of the Government of India ha iued a warning on July 7, 2025, for a high likelihood of landlide in Tehri, Uttarkahi, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli ditrict. Additionally, the India Meteorological Department ha indicated the poibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in Uttarkahi and Rudraprayag ditrict. (ANI)
